Several weeks ago, I posted a craft where I glammed up a faux pumpkin so it would lose some of its orange-y brightness. Today, I bought another pumpkin, antiqued it with brown craft paint, and then got the inspiration for this monogram. I already had the these pearlized pins on hand from another project. I purchased these in the sewing section of Wal-Mart, and they remind me of my mom and her sewing attempts. I’m afraid I come by my craftsmanship honestly!
I used an erasable pen to lightly sketch an “R” on the pumpkin, and then I began poking. The pins went easily into the pumpkin for the most part. Occasionally I had to use a little bit extra push, but it wasn’t difficult. CRAP ALERT: Who knew that the hardest part of the project was following a straight line?! I had to do an occasional readjustment to get the line straight — sometimes repositioning the pin and sometimes just wiggling it to get the alignment right. You can see in the picture below that my mine needed a little straightening.
You’ve seen the finished project at the top of this post, but I’m still deciding if the monogram needs a double row of pearls. What do you think?
